Four days Conference on Uniformity in the curriculum system of the country Uniformity in the Curriculum Urged for Unity and Harmony among Muslims Speakers at the four day conference arranged for the religious seminaries have urged the need for uniformity in the curriculum system of the country inorder to bring unity and avert differences existing among various sects in Islam. They said that differences in curricula of madaras, English and Urdu medium educational institutions of the country have created differences which often leads to dangerous consequences while chances of any natural integration has also been sabotaged. The four day conference was organized under the auspices of Department of Islamiat University of Peshawar in collaboration with Peace and Education Foundation Islamabad at the baragali summer campus. Sixty religious scholars from as many madrassas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participated in the moot. Vice Chancellor University of Swat Prof. Dr. Jehanzeb was the chief guest of the opening session. He was accompanied by VC ICU Prof. Dr. Qibla Ayaz, Chairman Department of Islamiat Prof. Dr. Miraj ul Islam Zia and Chief Executive of Peace and Education Foundation Mr. Azhar Hussain. The fear of diversion from principles of Islam and more importantly lack of awareness and being questioned about the teachings of Islam are the basic hindrances that prevent us from dialogue with other religions, said VC Swat University Prof. Dr. Jehanzeb. He said that we should have no doubt in the fact that Islam is the best religion with most followers in the world and set ourselves as example for others. Dr. Jehanzeb said that people around the world are convinced that Islam is a complete way of life but with not so good followers. After 9/11, the west has started a negative propaganda against Islam, but one thing is for sure than can only kill muslim not their religion, he opined. The aim of the conference is to bridge gap between madrassa and the University teachers, said Dr. Qibla Ayaz. He added updated curriculum for the dini madaras would be streamlined and made it in accordance with HEC guidelines. Advisor HEC Dr. Naeem Khalid said that the HEC has made 5% moral values as mandatory in designing of curriculum for each subject. He added the conditional recognition and equivalency of madrassa graduates due to lack of certain courses can be avoided by brining changes in the same. CEO of Peace and Education Azhar Hussain said that the organization has been working for unity of umma for the last one decade and have engaged 200 madaras in such trainings around the country. He underlined the need for conflict resolution through dialogue and by adopting set guidelines for ethics of disagreement in Islam.
