Four months ago my life changed. I suddenly was out of a job I loved after 18 years. I was scared, nervous and unsure of my future as I essentially was starting over in my career. I was lucky to obtain a part time job as a School Nurse and a full time job in the ER at Stephens County Hospital. Leaving OMC was bittersweet. It was my first nursing job and where I learned all of my mad nursing skills on Med Surg and PCU, Case Management and ER. I had so many mentors, I could not begin to name them all. I had lots of concerns. I was concerned about the lymphedema in my leg as standing and walking have been an increasing challenge over the last two years especially. I wondered if I could continue to do the job at hand? I wondered how far I would have to travel to my new job? I wondered too if the grass really was greener on the other side? Well, the Lord really does know what we need and looks out for us. He guides us where we need to be in our lives. I have been so fortunate to be a part of a great group of excellent nurses and healthcare professionals for a very long time. You guys are the elite! I am so fortunate to have known each and every one of you. Not a day that goes by that I do not think of my family. It has been very difficult, but I have met new people. A new family if you will, who are wonderful as well. I really do love my new job. I am learning so much and I truly feel at home. However, even though I have started on this new journey, I want my friends and co-workers at Oconee Medical Center to know that it is not the end, but a new beginning for me. I will see you around. I want you to know that I am happy to have known you. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of you all. Each of you has taught me a little something about this wonderful field of Healthcare. You never know, maybe I will be back again someday. For now, I am with my new family. May God Bless and take care of each of my Oconee Medical Center family.
