Four options for Tuross Head boat ramp Eurobodalla Shire Council - TopicsExpress

Four options for Tuross Head boat ramp Eurobodalla Shire Council is seeking community feedback on four options for the Tuross Head Boat Ramp to ensure that the boating and fishing needs of both locals and visitors are catered for. The four options are the result of a community consultation process over the past year and were presented in a consultant’s report to council last week. Mayor Lindsay Brown says boating and fishing are significant attractions on Tuross Lake and a more permanent, cost-effective solution for the boat ramp needs to be found. “Late last year, council allocated $10,000 to maintain the channel around the boat ramp to make sure it was accessible over summer,” said Cr Brown. “The ramp is regularly affected by sand build-up which makes boats difficult to launch.” The Mayor says the consultant’s report will be on exhibition from Wednesday 11 September and includes cost estimates as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each option. “We now need to hear from the community before council decides on which option to proceed with,” said Cr Brown. The four options in the Tuross Head Boat Ramp Investigation Assessment Report are: Option A: Upgrading the existing boat ramp on Nelson Parade Option B: Development of an alternate boat ramp on community land adjacent to Hector McWilliam Drive and opposite Lake Street intersection Option C: Development of an alternate new boat ramp within Lavender Bay on the southern side of Sandy Point Option D: Maintain the channel around the existing boat ramp There are a number of ways to give feedback on the options. You can make a submission via email to [email protected]; use the online feedback form or write a letter addressed to the General Manager at Eurobodalla Shire Council, PO Box 99 Moruya NSW 2537. The Tuross Head Boat Ramp Investigation Assessment Report can be viewed at council’s libraries, the customer service centre in Moruya and under ‘On Exhibition’ on council’s website, esc.nsw.gov.au for 28 days between Wednesday 11 September and Tuesday 8 October 2013.
