Four years ago our Evening of Jazz was the first concert I ever had to give without Brian (4 days after he passed away). That night we got on stage, we opened the curtain, we were all ready to start the gig, I turned to address the audience, and only then did I realize the house lights were still on, the spot lights were still off, and no mics had been set up. Tonight we remembered to do all of that on our own and also managed to trouble shoot several other little logistical issues with a fair amount of poise and finesse, while still managing to start the performance on time as well. Then as I was standing in the auditorium listening to the Bailey Jazz Ensembles opening set, I looked down and saw a single white feather on the floor in front of the stage and realized we hadnt really done anything on our own
