Four years ago this morning I awoke to pain and my eyes swollen shut. The result of some surgery to align my exterior to match my true self. I was fortunate to have been privileged at that time to afford engaging the skills of an artist in re-crafting my visage. It was indeed day one of the second major chapter of my life. Regrets, very few, and I would do it again. I only wish that our archaic nineteenth century draconian family court system could have embraced the new me instead of deciding I needed to be made an example of. Save for the adverse outcome of that sequence of events all would be well in my world today. At least I know today that others like me may enjoy some protections in Maryland that I had some hand in accomplishing. A long road indeed, but a remarkable journey none the less.
