Fourth Sunday of Easter: I Am the Good Shepherd!!! The Lord declared that He is our Shepherd and demonstrated it by giving His life for us. The Eternal God is our Shepherd. God uses the analogy of sheep and their nature to describe us. Sheep have a tendency to wonder off and get lost. We, humans tend to do the same thing. We go astray, drift away, reject God and break His commandments. Like sheep we cannot survive long without a shepherd whose care they are totally dependent. Like sheep we are dependent upon the Lord to shepherd, protect and care for us. The sheep (us humans) must hear the voice of their shepherd and follow him. When we as believers follow our Shepherd, we know that we will have all we need. We will not lack the necessities of life for He knows what we need. My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. (Jn. 10:27)
