Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly, who, several years ago started the “War On Christmas” nonsense, is now congratulating his favorite person for winning the war. That person is, of course, Bill O’Reilly. On the December 17 edition of his show, “The O’Reilly Factor,” O’Reilly brought in Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum to discuss a new Pew poll about Christmas displays on public property. MacCallum observes that in the poll, about 72 percent of respondents said they were okay with religious Christmas displays on public land. 44 percent said they had no problem with Christmas displays by themselves. Another 28 percent said the Christmas displays were okay if they were accompanied by displays from other faiths. O’Reilly comments that “the law says that if you put a Christian display, you have to put a Satanistic [sic] display.” Apparently Bill missed the fact that, whether he likes it or not, Satanism is an actual, legitimate religion. In fact, Satanism is technically an offshoot of Christianity. MacCallum responds to O’Reilly’s observation that there is a Satanist display in the Florida state capitol, next to the Christmas tree. “Oh please,” she says. “We have enough displays of Satan going on around the world… And I do think the tide is turning in this whole discussion about Christmas.” O’Reilly is so pleased with himself that he can’t wait for MacCallum to finish her statement. We won the war. And you know I have to confess, I’m like a guerrilla fighter in the war on Christmas. You know what I do? I put little shepherds right in front of city hall in my town… Or if I know that there’s a secular person in my town, or the town neighboring me, I’ll put a little baby Jesus on their windshield. “You’ve single-handedly saved Christmas, Charlie Brown,” MacCallum tells O’Reilly. “That’s right. I have,” he says. “
