Fr SAJU GEORGE, SJ Fr Saju George is a Jesuit priest belonging to Calcutta Jesuit Province. He has an M.A. in Indian Dance and Ph.D. in the Philosophy of Indian Sacred/Classical Dance. He has been performing, choreographing and teaching Bharatanatyam since last 15 years in India and abroad. He guides Ph.D. scholars in Dance under Bharathidasan University, Tiruchhirappally in Tamilnadu (South India) since 2006. He runs the social welfare and humanitarian centre called Shanti Nir (Nest of Peace), the Art Peace Foundation, and Kalahrdaya – The Universal Home of Art and Culture. Through these institutions Fr Saju helps many poor people in education and different humanitarian projects. He helps homeless poor people to build small houses. He is trained in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi under gurus like Padmabhushan Prof C.V. Chandrasekhar, Padmabhushan Guru Kalanidhi Narayanan, Padmabhushan Guru Vempathi Chinna Satyam, Prof. Derrick Munro. Padmasri Leela Samson, Prof. Khagendra Nath Barman, Guru Sri K.Rajkumar, Kalaimamani Smt. Priyadarshini Govind, and others. He gives regular lectures in Indian aesthetics, art and religion in different institutions in India and abroad.Fr. Saju has given several solo and group performances in India and over 25 countries abroad. He has choreographed several dances based on the Bible. Wednesday 9th October 8 pm at St Aloysius’ College Sixth Form Hall Fr Saju will give a performance for the general public. Tickets are available from the University chaplaincy, Mount St Joseph, Mosta, St Aloysius’ College and Loyola House, Naxxar. Thursday 109th October 7 pm at the University Chaplaincy: Fr Saju will provide students with an explanation on “Bharata Natyam dance and Evangelisation” and then give a performance at the chapel. No tickets are required Friday 11th October From 4 pm to 8pm Fr Saju will be giving a work shop to different dance schools at Artemocion School, Mellieha.
