Victor Ramos Baltazar SJ Our first formators into holiness, the first group of people who have helped draw out the priest in us are lay people—our parents, our catechists, teachers in religion subjects, lay ministers and lectors, ordinary folk who represent ordinary holiness in the Church, as Pope Francis rightfully acknowledges and praises. Laicity is at the core of our life experience because in our younger days, when our vocation was still a newly planted seed, the holiness of God assumed concrete form in our hearts through these ordinary holy people. And as present and future presbyters, we are called to confirm their faith in turn.
