Fracking. Let me first say that I am forever in love with science, the benefits science....and the scientific method...has begotten. I also confess to a certain reflex to criticism by the luddite en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luddite elements in our world. Often found among the Left here in America but there are also huge sections of the conservative world where anything new or scientific is viewed with suspicion and attacked. Because I love the answers science has offered to solve human problems, in the main making our life much, much better, I tend to afford scientific invention a certain benevolence. And because it is often attacked by those who attack other ideas I hold dear, I tend to come to its defense reactively, sometimes before a full understanding. That "enemy of my enemy is my friend" kind of thing. For someone who prides himself on rationality and reflection, this is not all together something to boast about, of course. I must take care to be deliberate and intentional on a case to case basis. So it is with fracking, I am first trying to understand, THEN to decide. Contributions to my understanding are always welcome.....unless I sense luddite in your reply. That is to say you can not give an articulate "why" to your opposition.
