Franchise and Business Expo concludes The first Franchise and Business Opportunities Expo Nepal 2013 concluded in Kathmandu on Sunday. The expo was organized by the Global Events and Media Solution (GEMS) with an aim to advocate self entrepreneurship in terms of specialized products in national and international levels. “Through the expo, we managed to inform visitors about the concept of business franchise. It´s a big achievement,” Joseph Adhikari, managing director of Franchise Expo Nepal, said. According to the organizers, more than 23,000 people visited the expo. Most of them were students and small scale entrepreneurs. The expo featured 40 stalls showcasing as many as 250 brands. Around 60 percent of the brands were from countries like China, India, Indonesia, UK, UAE, Hungary and Malaysia. Regan Prasai, finance manager of Sai Raj Industries, said his company introduced drug-free pain relief heating pads in the expo. “Many companies have showed interest to represent our brand. We will soon enter an agreement with some of them,” added Prasai. Similarly, Dhawal Shukla, senior franchise manager of Australia based Aussie-Indo Hospitality Group, which owns ´The Chocolate Room´ Brand, said his company is looking to explore the brand across the world. ´The Chocolate Room´ already has 100 outlets across the country. Bajeko Sekuwa, a local eatery chain, is preparing to franchise the brand in Pokhara. Officials of Bajeko Sekuwa said business groups in Hong Kong and Macau have shown interest to franchise the brand in their respective countries. According to the organizers, more than 200 entrepreneurs have filled the franchisee commitment from expressing interest to invest between Rs 500,000 to Rs 10 million
