Frank Chapman shared a link. Yesterday We could respond to this article with a simple but glaring observation: Yes Chicago is a Tale of Two Cities, one rich, powerful and morally bankrupt and the other powerless, poor and demoralized by institutionalized policies of economic exploitation of workers, and racist oppression of African Americans and Latinos. A city where the Mayor closes over 50 public schools (90% of them being in African American neighborhoods) and promotes charter schools; a city where the police are allowed to murder and torture African Americans and Latinos with impunity while gang violence is used to justify even more police repression; a city where the Mayor apologizes for the decades of torture and false imprisonment of mostly people of color but does not call for the exoneration and freeing of the victims and survivors of torture; and finally a city with a mufti-billion dollar financial district propped up by banks still robbing African American home owners blind and a City Council that plays second fiddle to the Mayor perpetrating budget cuts that create savage social conditions for the masses and welfare for the banks and big (profit driven) corporations. Our course is clear! We must rise up and fight back against the dictatorship of that running dog for the 1% Mayor Rahm Emmanuel.
