Frank Lutz spoke to a conference I attended several years ago at the National Conference of State Legislators (NCSL). He was an engaging, interactive, interesting speaker. We likely dont share many political values, but I appreciate his perspectives and research. And I do agree with this perspective: voters want to change the way Washington operates, but not necessarily the policies. The current narrative, that this election was a rejection of President Obama, misses the mark. So does the idea that it was a mandate for an extreme conservative agenda. According to a survey my firm fielded on election night for the political-advocacy organization Each American Dream, it was more important that a candidate “shake up and change the way Washington operates.” nytimes/2014/11/06/opinion/the-midterms-were-not-a-republican-revolution.html?ref=international&_r=0
