Fred Foxs Yukon adventure continues...Thank you so much to all the students, teachers, volunteers, and well...everyone who took such good care of Fred. Last day of visiting schools in Whitehorse area yesterday. Wow, another 3 terrific schools here in the Yukon. Started day at Selkirk Elem. Met RO Leah Widdis and principal Peter Gubbe. Real fun school. Then off to north of downtown to Porter Creek Sec. This was an emotional visit, with a nice intimate visit with about 60 of the students in their small drama room. After following passionate RO Trena Irving up the ladder to the small room above theatre where we had to set up PowerPoint, I spoke to the students. It went good I think, with students between the age of 15 & 17. A great age to get the message too. After the presentation met a grd 12 student who was not given the best of news with a diagnosis of a type of sarcoma to a leg. It was difficult for him but he was very courageous in sharing his story of the past year with me. It was very powerful moment. Finished the school visit portion of this visit to Whitehorse at Holy Family Catholic school. TTM & RO Deidre Poulin was super and her Daughter, Erin did an awesome job of introducing me. The school had a nice display on the gym wall with Im running for stickers from the students stuck on the wall. Finished the visit by having a bowl of Yukon Moose meat stew and home made bread with Principal Ted Hupe. He was a good guy! Finished the day by going to Inn on the woods lodge which is on Marsh Lake south of Whitehorse about 30+ mins. The Park & Recreation leaders from various communities throughout the Yukon were there for a workshop. I had a chance to speak with then briefly. Its hoped we can resurrect some TF Runs in communities that once held events. Jeane Lassen set this up. Jeane works for Sports Yukon as. Physical Literacy coordinator and she is a great person and weight lifting champion. Her Dad drove me to Marsh lake. Leif is an interesting Yukon character and the ride and conversation even more so. Lots of nice chats with folks during dinner who had a connection to related to Terry. It never seizes to amaze the wide spread impact he has had 34 years later. Wednesday was an excellent TF day. - Fred
