Frederick Buechner writes: In these pages I tell secrets about my parents, my children, myself because that is one way of keeping track and because I believe that it is not only more honest but also vastly more interesting than to pretend that I have no such secrets to tell. I not only have my secrets, I am my secrets. And you are your secrets. Our secrets are human secrets, and our trusting each other enough to share them with each other has much to do with the secret of what it is to be human. Our secrets destroy us when we keep them to ourselves. May we confess our sins (secrets) to one another and find healing. The Christmas story helps us come to grips with the secrets of our lives and families as Jesus, yes Jesus, has a rather dysfunctional family tree. There are skeletons the royal closet of the King of Kings genealogy. Although He was pure, His family lineage was not. May you find hope today in the One who became like us so that we might become like Him.
