Frederick Police Department Makes Shoplifting Arrest, CR#13-64134 On 10/05/2013 at approximately 1129 hrs. Off. Ashley Antczak responded to “Do U Clothing” located 10 Hillcrest Drive for a theft/shoplifting in progress call. Upon arrival at the scene, Off. Antczak was contacted by the complainant who advised the suspect had just left. After relaying a description of the suspect to responding officers, OFC. Michael Weaver was able to located a subject that match the description given a short distance away. As OFC. Weaver attempted to talk with the subject, a foot chase ensued. As the chase entered the 1200 Block of Rutledge Place, the suspect ran into an apartment complex building. As officers canvassed the building for the suspect, later identified as Lewis Samuel Smith, he was located hiding in a common area laundry room. Smith was then taken into custody without incident and transported to central booking. At the time of this press release, Smith is awaiting an appearance before a district court commissioner.
