Free Camp Concert Tonight! Wycliffe Gordon, Tim Warfield, Jonathan Ragonese, and Steve Meashey perform tonight at the High Center at Messiah College as well as the 70 camp students. Come hear the future of jazz! The final event of our annual Central P Jazz Camp is this evening at 7pm - a FREE concert in the High Center at Messiah College. Our Camp got off to a great start with a concert by the stellar faculty i n the Recital Hall at the High Center - pictured above are Steve Meashey, Wycliffe Gordon, Tim Warfield & Jonathan Ragonese ( not pictured were Kirk Reese and Jeff Stabley). During the concert we awarded the Ogden Thompson Memorial Scholarship to Jeanne Marie Stalteri from Indiana, PA who will be attending Slippery Rock Univ. this fall. Presenting the award were Cara Thompson and her son Sherman, who is attending the camp. The facilities at Messiah College are ideal for this event with great pianos in abundance, a keyboard lab, plenty of rehearsal space and their beautiful performance hall - Parmer Hall - where the closing concert is held. We hope you will be able to attend this exciting event to see and hear the boundless energy and enthusiasm that these kids bring to the music. We are grateful again to the Olewine Family Fund for underwriting the Camp and we encourage those of you who are able to donate to our tuition fund - we annually have many talented young musicians who are unable to afford to attend. This year we had scholarships donated by Penn National Insurance, The Hall Foundation, David and Mary Heltzel, Janice R. Black, Capitol Blue Cross, David Skerpon, andRosemary Barrett. Education is the force that keeps Americas Music alive - thanks for your support! We had an exceptional group of students this year who were all very attentive and eager to learn. Many new friends were made...our thanks to the faculty and staff at Messiah for their time and cooperation in hosting this great event.
