Free Thinkers Moment; Back then Freed slaves used to walk from State to State looking for their friends, loved ones , and others. Now we walk by and pass each other like we dont matter. I find myself walking by other ppl of color everyday who no longer see me. Inside I am saddened but I still nod my head in solidarity. The struggle has taught us to hate ourselves and LOVE their wealth. I wish I lived in a time when Black men still protected their women, now they disregard and disrespect us even when they dont know us, and the truth is...they dont want to know us. Black women are a forgone conclusion and forgotten commodity. I cant wait to go back home. Where seeing my own ppl wont feel strange when they say hello, where the police are black so I know I wont be profiled because of the color of my skin. And where my children will have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive without bending to the will of a society where even we have forgotten ourselves. XOXO BG
