She is also the founder of an eco-arts housing & land conservation project based in a rust belt city orbiting the rock star Detroit. Poet Tree Mitigation Services, Salon des Refusé, Community Service Berry Jam are some of niches mined in this galaxy. She jams with Paul Van Curen, Daniel Carter, Brad Jones, Anne Waldman, Drew Gardner, mockingbirds and cats. Lee Ann Brown was born in Japan and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is the author of Polyverse and The Sleep That Changed Everything and collaborative projects such as “The 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time” with Tony Torn and Bagatelles for Cornell with Karen Randall. She is the founder of the award-winning independent poetry press, Tender Buttons, co-founder of The French Broad Institute (of Time & the River), and associate Professor of English at St. John’s University. Brown multiplies her time between New York City and Marshall, North Carolina and performs her poems internationally.
