Free to Love Prayer Devotional, November 9 gracecrossing.net/freetolove FREEDOM IN CHRIST “In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.” - Ephesians 3:12 COMMENTARY Can you imagine the picture of daily life as described in Genesis? Gods word tells us that the first man and woman lived in a perfect paradise created especially for them. Life was easy and food was effortless. A perfect habitat filled with every exotic form of life that you can imagine and all of it for the pleasure of his most treasured creation, us. Even more astonishing is the description found in Genesis 3:8 that suggests God physically walked with Adam and Eve. He made his Spirit manifest to them and they were without fear or shame. This account of the beginning of creation is astonishing. A direct and unhindered relationship with Jehovah. What must their conversations have been about? How deeply did the Father explain the mysteries of His creation? What did He look like? Sound like? Tragically for all, the perfectly planned existence of mankind was shattered when Adam and Even chose deceit and pride instead of the truth from our loving Father. While the fallouts of sin are numerous and in most cases obvious, the most heartbreaking and damaging is perhaps the loss of our intimate relationship with God. No longer do we walk with his manifested Spirit in a perfect setting. No longer do we approach God the Father on our own. However, one day we will. At the perfectly appointed time, Christ will return to Earth and call to Him all that believe. Jehovah will once again dwell with us in paradise and we will have a restored, perfect, and intimate relationship with Him. What will our conversations be like? What will He look like? What will the worship of the saints sound like? Its almost unimaginable. While we anticipate that day, we also hold fast to the love that the Father demonstrates for us here on the Earth. His son, Christ Jesus, took our place in death. He obediently fulfilled the law on our behalf and in doing so, restored our ability to approach the Father without fear or shame. He loves us so much that the thought of never being able to commune with us again is unbearable; even if restoring us to Him costs dearly. And now, freely and with confidence, we may approach God on all matters. He longs to calm our fears as we share them with Him. He delights when we tell him about the funny things our children and grand-children say. He smiles and says, “Tell me more!” as we share the revelations we find in His scriptures and His creation. And, He weeps and whispers, “Im here, right here.” when we cry out from the pain that comes with great loss. Jesus has restored. PRAYER Jesus, your mighty love and compassion has given me new and eternal life. My conversations with you sustain me in all seasons of life. I long to hear your voice more and more each day. Even though I live in a broken and fallen world, your Spirit dwells inside of me and I will take comfort in knowing that we can still take daily walks together. I pray this prayer freely and confidently through my faith in Christ Jesus, AMEN! TAKEAWAY “I am free to meet with the creator of all things, the holiest of all beings, because of the sacrifice of Christ Jesus.”
