Freedom is a sword, light and without resistance. Freedom is not a shield. Freedom cannot truly defend itself. Freedom can only defend through offense. Honor and/or Integrity is a shield, heavy and cumbersome, or Honor and Integrity is armor heavy and resistant. It is easy to throw down the shield or armor and just wield the sword. But, how much blood have we spilled in maintaining the freedom of others with the human sacrifice of both the victim of the sword and the wielder of the sword? Is it not better to find a way to maintain freedom with the might of the shield. If the right thing, is never the easy thing. Then, why do we choose a sword that freely cuts its wielders enemies as surely as it cuts its wielder? Should we not learn to strive to carry the shield? Should we so eagerly discard the shield for a two-edged sword or worse two swords, one in each hand? Does the sacrifice of the wielder of the sword and the enemy they cut down as well as the innocence in between really a justification of the means to this end? How can we call ourselves honorable when we cut down the innocent, the guilty, and the wielder of the sword? We protect nothing. We only maintain the right to end the lives of others at the end of the barrel of a gun, the proverbial sword. Disarming people of the sword and the gun is never enough. People must learn to carry the weight of the shield. But, the sword is easier to carry. The gun is easier to kill others at a distance to better disassociate ones self from the other. And, it easier to let others be soldiers, to carry the sword. But, the blood still splatters you. No matter how many times you push them away when they return home the blood always finds it way to manifest upon the rest of us. No matter how we may try to hide our shame by disrespecting those we have wield the sword ... The blood will always be there. We have cried havoc and let loose the dogs of war. Bravo! But, now that they have done their duty we cannot throw them in the gutter nor take them to the pound to be put down. They are part of us, just as we are the part of them for which they made sacrifice. If we must force others to wield the sword. Then we must in turn take up the shield and defend them. https://youtube/watch?v=VLhCVz6CcQM
