Freezing Rain Makes For A Busy Day - The day started around 0522 hours with a vehicle accident with rollover on Route 340wb at Gene Hemp Road. Ambulance 209, Medic 20, Rescue Squad 20, Engine 201 were the west bound assignment while Company 19 and 5 were the east bound assignment. A209 went on scene with single vehicle on its side all occupants out. Rescue Squad 20 arrived and shut down 340wb. After a size up Rescue Squad 20 held the units on scene and returned the balance of the assignment. 1 patient was transported by A209 to FMH and all other units return to service. Scene was turned over to MSP and CHART. Then while Ambulance 209 was on a med local units from Co. 20 and 19 were alerted for another vehicle accident on Route 340 just west of the previous accident around 0730 hours. Assistant Chief 20 was on scene with single vehicle accident one patient for transport. Rescue Squad 20 arrived and shut down the shoulder and lane 1 of Route 340wb at the Catoctin Creek bridge. Crews packaged one patient with a KED and backboard. Ambulance 199 arrived and transported patient to FMH. While crews were on scene a third call came in for another roll over involving a State Roads salt truck in the area of Stokes Junk Yard on Route 464 (3000 Block Point of Rocks Road). Engine 201 and the Deputy Chief responded and Rescue Squad 20 added on from 340. Rescue Squad 20 was placed in service just after response. Engine 201 remained on scene for a short stent to clean up fluids and spread salt from the trucks load that spilled onto the roadway before returning to service. Thanks to all that responded and assisted today.
