Frequently, after I get done exercising at Anytime Fitness, in the evening, I sit down in a foyer area in the gym and do some writing on my laptop. Almost every night, a married couple comes in around 9:30 or 10; sometimes their son is with them; he is probably 10 or so. The couple cleans the gym (if their son is with them, he sits down and chills and taps away at some digital device). They are all very nice people. I suspected the couple was from South America. And I was wondering, if so, if the country from which they immigrated, was still in the World Cup. So I asked, and the woman told me they were from Cape Verde -- and that Cape Verde had used an ineligible player in an important match not long ago which resulted in the country being denied a place in the African World Cup qualifying tournament. But, also, with a smile, she informed me that the team she roots for is the United States.
