Fresh batch of arctic air will and another night headed to sub zero temperatures and wind chills to nearly -20°. A sprawling arctic high will keep skies clear and temperatures frigid. But a quiet open to a weekend that will turn wintry again. The arctic air is sluggish and slow to depart - and as moisture streams north from a southern jet stream it will overrun the cold, setting the stage for a wintry mix of snow/sleet and freezing rain to fall starting later Sunday and into Monday. Icing looks likely across central and south-central Indiana overnight Sunday into Monday but the exact location of the band of ice is still being determined. There is no doubt that slick conditions will develop and there will be freezing rain. Our latest take on Ice accumulation off a suite of computer runs places a risk of .10 or greater icing to nearly 60% in central Indiana. Currently we target a Terre Haute to Indianapolis to Richmond line south, to a Bedford, Seymour, North Vernon line. A shift in north or south is possible so stay up to date and check in to the new web page below for more through the weekend.
