Fresh posting since the attachment couldnt be shared via my FB page: While doing some research on another topic, I came across this real photo postcard of Marengo, Saskatchewan from the early 1910s. By one reading of the image, it appears that some factory-made, quarter-sawn oak furniture has been delivered by train from down East, though more likely from down Central, as in possibly Southwestern Ontario. Perhaps by Krug in Chesley? Now, I know group members dont necessarily get pumped about factory-made Canadiana -- we tend to prefer the artisans handiwork -- but the bigger historical picture told by this image explains why a fair amount of antiques from the eastern half of Canada found their way onto the Prairies. Its a part of our history.
