Fresher’s orientation held at JU #Jahangirnagar #JU #জাহাঙ্গীরনগর #জাবি #JU43 30th Apr 2014, Print BdChronicle JU Correspondent: The orientation program for the first year honors students of Jahangirnagar University under 2013-14 academic session was held on Wednesday on the campus. The JU vice-chancellor, Professor Dr Farzana Islam, presided over the program at Jahir Raihan Auditorium of the university. Speaking on the occasion VC Prof Farzana Islam welcomed the new students of various departments and asked them to utilize the existing facilities of the university to become worthy citizens of the country. She urged the students to uphold patriotism, honesty, integrity and humanity to take the country forward. Member of Bangladesh Public Service Commission, Prof Dr Shariff Enamul Kabir and also former VC of JU, attended the program as chief guest while director of students’ welfare centre Prof Rasheda Akter delivered welcome speech. JU registrar Abu Bakkar Siddique, Pro-VC Prof Abul Hossain dean of different faculty and director of different institute were also addressed the program, among others. As chief guest Prof Shariff Enamul Kabir welcomed the students and advised not to confine themselves in formal education provided by the university rather then they need to be involved in moral education which may contribute the students to make complete human being in the society. Terming the students as the future leaders of the nation, he also said they should be equipped with modern information and communication technologies and modern education to face the challenges of the 21st century. The fresher students also expressed joy being admitted in country only full-flagged residential university.
