Freshmen Exceed Expectations in Reading Competition Using a classroom library funded by WAEF and the PTA, ninth graders in Chris Stanchek’s classes exceeded expectations in a “choice book reading competition.” When the competition began in the Fall, Stanchek set a goal for the students of 50,000 total pages read. The project ended April 30, with 90 students having read 199,900 pages by choice since August. The top 20 readers will celebrate with an ice cream social sponsored by Stanchek and building principal, Dr. Corey Jones.
