Fri Aug 8, 2014 (Newport Beach CA USA)--Hyatt Regency Newport Beach Summer Concert Series-- under the stars with a nearly-full moon beaming down on the appreciative audience-- for flamenco guitarist, Ottmar Liebert & the Luna Negra-- but the moon was far from black tonight as I endeavored to navigate my way from the parking lot to the small grassy space set up with white folding chairs... Now that I look around, though, to the evocative strumming of Lieberts love guitar, the moon has slipped behind darkened skies into the marine layer and hotel lights. Im on row J, three seats from the end of the curved rows, sandwiched between two other people. The seats arent terraced, but all on the same level. This means that I have amazing sounds flowing into my ears while the view is that of a few dozen peoples heads. See what Im seeing-- and then witness the view with my arm outstretched to its highest reach so you can actually see Ottmar seated between his talented bass player and his rhythmic percussionist.
