Friday - Still computerless, Still no LOLs. :( I am considering options in case the computer is bust. Debating between another Dell/Windows laptop and taking the Mac plunge. I use MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Quickbooks extensively. I understand the Mac versions dont have all the features, but Im not sure what Id be losing. I dont do PC-based gaming. I Skyrim on the Xbox. I would like to have a standard graphics software package without having to go to the expense of Photoshop/Illustrator. (although Creative Commons from Adobe is a nice, subscription-based option) MAC PROS: no antivirus software needed (still correct?), Ive heard really good things about Scrivener (software for writers); I understand Macs come with some sort of graphic/photo manipulation software standard - correct? My girls have Macs. MAC CONS: Having to buy all new Software. Im concerned about Quickbooks compatibility since I use that for personal, writing & tairens lair accounting, sales & inventory. Ive never used a Mac, so thered be a learning curve (although my Mom, Ms. Computer Illiterate, manages just fine) PC PROS: Ive been a PC/Windows user all my life. Im familiar with it. I dont have to buy all new software, just port my existing licenses to new machine. I dont have to buy new accessory hardware (keyboard, mouse, external drive) Office 365 for Windows looks interesting. PC CONS: The constant crashing of Windows (especially when I use hibernate/sleep mode frequently) remains a PIMA. (pain in my ASCII) Whats the consensus out there? PC or MAC?? Only 101 days until THE WINTER KING! clwilson/the-books/coming-soon/
