Friday 10.10.14 started off on a sad note revolving around the funeral arrangements for Siti Salmi. We have seen a number of those we assist dying at a young age. It makes us weep inside. I looked at my mobile phone and saw the last message from Salmi which was on 26.7.14 thanking us for cleaning and painting her parents PPRT flat in time for Hari Raya, and for the new sofa to replace their old one, which I almost fell right through when I sat on it. Salmis message sounded calm and at peace and I was hopeful that she would have a less bumpy path ahead. Apparently she was already unwell then. Last nights food distribution was a kenduri for Salmi and her daughter Sofea. We served 640 packets of food plus a great range of treats. There were 92 volunteers, including 3 doctors. Thank you everyone for all your help. We ended the night exhausted, but on a warm and happy note.
