Friday 12/12/14 Update: I am happy to report that Dave was just as alert today as he was yesterday, if not a little more. He was able to respond to simple questions and a few commands. I can definitely say that he has his sense of humor at times too....I asked him if he thought my hair was pretty or was it ugly and his response It was pretty ugly! Chezney and I got a real kick out of that. Also, when Chez and I were talking and thought he wasnt listening, he would chuckle, roll his eyes or add a brief comment. It was awesome....love thatspain in the ass attitude coming out!! For now the drs are closely monitoring how he is doing right now without the antibiotics in the drain and we will then go from there. He is coughing more today, which is a good thing too. As our day was coming to a close...the ophthalmologist stopped in to check on an area around his left eye and unfortunately she diagnosed him as having shingles in and around his left eye. Needless to say, I was upset to say the least. She confirmed my suspicions sadly and shared how they can attack a compromised immune system which is not uncommon, especially in Daves case. Antibiotics have been started and hoping it does not continue to spread. Having had shingles on my scalp, eyebrows and eyelashes when I was 8 months pregnant with Chezney, it is very painful. Dave continues to fight the fight...but extra prayers please as he continues to hit these speed bumps along the way. Came home and found the strength and energy (think the junk food and our strong, amazing daughters helped a little too) to decorate a little for the holidays....until tomorrow.....
