Friday, 17 October 2014 Promise Ikpe at 10:27 UNTIL THEY LOST THE PENALTY In the finals of our annual football season, I was the captain of my team, we got 11 news players and nine of them were starters. I was captaining a total of 9 players who haven’t accepted me as their captain. When it was time to take certain decisions on the field, 9 of them would come together and decide, totally disregarding my presence and captaincy. I was frustrated and there was no leadership on the field. I couldn’t tell anyone what to do except the one old player that started the game with us. Finally, we were a goal down and we got a penalty, I was the penalty taker for my team but these 9 players came together and decided I won’t take the penalty. Well, they chose another penalty taker and he played into the keeper’s hand. It was the finals and we can’t afford to lose, at that point, I got mad at 9 of them and they hence decided to allow my lead. Once I started controlling things, within 10 minutes we equalized. During the break, the chief speaker among this 9 came to me and promised to obey henceforth and told the rest “they joking called me skippo and shouted it’. We won the game and I learnt this lesson. We don’t involve God until we have failed woefully. We only acknowledge help after we see that we have lost the equalizing penalty. Everyman is right in his eyes and we don’t acknowledge the righteousness of God until our righteousness has led us to the mud. Don’t wait to fail before acknowledge God ‘...for without me ye can do nothing’ john 15:5 If you acknowledge God early, you won’t have to face failures and hardship. With Christ, all things are possible. Don’t wait till you fail before you know you can’t do it alone. Let God help you today, acknowledge His captaincy over our life and you’ll have no troubles to deal alone with. Always ask for God’s say before you take your move, when He is silent it means move on; when you get a negative outcome it means something better is on the pipeline.
