Friday, 18 Jul 2014 Phase 1 Nursing Graduation at Fort Sam Houston, Texas WHAT A BEAUTIFUL AND BLESSED DAY! No PT for the graduating class, yeheyy! I am so happy and proud to see ALL of us graduated. First time since 2012 and in 22 cycles that an entire class had 100% APFT and 100% School/Didactics passing. Our Cadre and Instructors told us from Day 1, the trend has always been theres someone who is not going to make it in Phase one. We were determined not to make that happen to OUR class! Thank you, God! I missed getting the APFT award (score of 90% in every event, Push-Up, Sit-Up and 2 Mile Run). Though I maxed the PU and SU, I missed 90% of my run by 8 seconds. Disappointing at first but I quickly recovered because this is one of my best APFT scores and I did get a good score in my age category. Hey, its difficult running with fast 18-20-30 yr olds! LOL! People who touched my life were present during the graduation. Alma, shes a custodian worker who I made friends with (She took a few mins from work to see me! that means a lot to me!); busy COL J. Ruttle-King who took time to mentor my other classmates about the opportunities in the Nursing field; what an honor to share blessings to my classmates. Shes an inspiration to me! Fellow teacher from Kamaile, Carolyn and her mom, Charlene ( a nurse! what a connection there!), Keith who is always supportive and loving in what I do; Virginia who is like family here in Texas and has welcomed me and some classmates in her home--cooking, singing and just good company. An excellent break from the books and uniformed life. During the graduation rehearsal, they had specific seating arrangements for those who will receive awards in Leadership, Academics, Peer tutors and APFT (90% and above in PU, SU and 2MR). A classmate and myself will present our PLT SGT and Class Instructors with frame of thanks so we were extra in that group. The Cadre and my Instructors got me. They surprised me with an award for being part of the Field Training Exercise for my classmates. Very unexpected! Moving on to 10 months of Clinicals in Phase 2 at Madigan Hospital, WA. Dear God, bless this group so we will ALL graduate in May 2015.
