Friday 26th July, 2013. GRACE EXPOSES GRACE John 3: 16-21 “Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will not be exposed”. (John 3:20). Have you ever received a parceled gift and just kept it somewhere without opening to see the content? A gift treated that way is useless. When we receive gifts, there could be an urge of wanting to see the content and what use it will serve. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world the He gave…” the special gift was issued out, but not everyone received the gift, though everyone is opportuned to receive this wonderful gift. Whosoever believes in this gift and receives the gift, becomes God’s child, without reservation. See also John 1:12. The special gift is Jesus Christ and He is light where darkness can never be comfortable. He who receives the light, receives an exposition of the purpose of God in his or her life and will be able to focus and closely follow. Those who understand grace and walk in His fullness are those who received grace. In other words, believers have to know how to let grace into our lives to be able to enjoy the fullness. Grace exposes evil, and helps us to keep far away from it. (Titus 2:11-12) people who do evil hate light because it prevents them from practicing their evil deeds. Evil doers fear light because of its propensity not only to expose their evil deeds but fear, shame and disgrace. On the other hand, light brightens our path and leads us to good deeds that bear fruits that will last. Mans natural likeness for sin (darkness) entangles him against the freedom of light. Receiving God’s grace therefore, entails total surrender, away from all environmental and territorial darkness (sin) and embracing God’s grace to the exposition of our purpose of living. “The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple”. (Psalm 119:130). Grace is the power that unfolds God’s word and makes it come alive to a heart that is simple (receptive). How do you receive and apply God’s word to your life? For it is one thing to read the Word and another thing to receive interpretation and understanding that exposes us to proper application. What steps would you employ today, to allow grace expose the darkness that has hindered you from stepping up in your walk with Christ? Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, help me surrender myself to your will, so that I can walk in the grace freely offered to me, in Jesus name. Amen! For further study: Kindly read, John 1:1-18, Titus 2:11-12 and Psalm 119:130.
