Friday 9Th of January 11, 2015 Devotionals By Pastor Olalekan fasina of Ignitechurches The benefits of solitude. Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Solitude like we have looked at previously is aloneness! As a young boy I used to be so sensitive to noise that I would leave my school and go to study with one or two friends in another school! We had a primary school within our secondary school and we would be the only three human beings studying in that primary school. Solitude helped me to concentrate! Solitude helped me to avoid distractions! Solitude helped me to think through difficult Physics and Mathematical problems. Solitude helped me to achieve in-depth learning! All these added with the special grace of God helped me to become a remarkable student. I WAS NOT BORN THAT WAY. I CHANGED and BECAME THAT WAY. We are in the precious month of January, we all have the benefit of starting over new things or continuing the good we have previously done. Take the opportunity to BECOME SOMETHING NEW! IT IS NOT HOW YOU WERE BORN OR WHERE YOU WERE BORN THAT MATTERS, WHAT MATTERS IS WHAT YOU DO TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE! DO SOMETHING TODAY! SOLITUDE WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE COMPLETELY! The above example was from my life as a student! It is simple but it changed my life. Go away from the noise and embrace truth! Embrace wisdom, embrace God. Take the time to write out your goals and catch up on lost opportunities. Take the time to think about any leaps of faith that you may need to take. Solitude worked for Jesus, it worked for me and It will surely work for you. I pray that as you take the time to truly be still, God will be God in every area of your life in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. Bible Reading Plan: Matthew 11, Proverbs 9 Saturday 10th January 201 Devotionals By Pastor Olalekan fasina of Ignitechurches. THE BENEFITS OF SOLITUDE (2) Psalm 4:4 Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. In the scripture above, the psalmist gives us good advice again. “Be Still; commune with your own heart!” Great advice worth following! When I became a career person I applied this same principle of solitude and it worked wonders. One of my clients got into serious trouble! I used to negotiate house buying deals on their behalf and I had helped them to buy 8 properties before then, they tried to buy two houses without my help but they agreed to bad conditions and got a dangerous deal. Because of this bad deal they were ordered to pay £300,000 cash in order to get out of the trouble they had got themselves into. In desperation, they called me, apologizing for trying to do the deal behind my back and asked me to help get them out of the sticky situation. The matter was very tricky, but I went into our garden and began to pray, walking up and down in the garden. I had done this for about 30 to 40 minutes when all of a sudden I knew what to say in my negotiation with the company that was suing my client for £300,000! I called the company and said what I had heard from God in my period of solitude and prayers. My client was saved and only had to pay £32,000, instead of £300,000. I heard the solution in solitude! Solitude has been beneficial to me. What about you? As you plan this year, plan periods of half a day, one day, two and even three or more days to be alone with God! We all need God. As you draw near to God, may He amaze you with the warmth of His presence in the mighty name of Jesus. Bible Reading Plan : Matt 12. Proverbs 10 SUNDAY, 11th JANUARY, 2015 Devotionals By Pastor Olalekan fasina of Ignitechurches FIND TIME FOR SOLITUDE, TOUCH YOUR FULL POTENTIAL Psalm 63 (KJV) 1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; 2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. Solitude helped me to talk to God without distraction, dis to God without distraction, disruption and disconnection. This has changed my life! If the hours of your life are all noisy and loaded with distractions and you have not mastered the discipline of going away to be alone with God that is close to a curse! If you want a Toyota car to fulfill its best potential and to function at optimum performance you need to get it serviced by Toyota regularly. The same way, going to God in solitude is like going to your Manufacturer. You will fulfill your full potential! So what are your plans for solitude? Will you give your husband or wife a bit of space so that they can spend time with God? Will you organize for you and your spouse to talk to God together alone for a few days? Will you train your staff and your children to know when you want to be alone with God so they can help you keep it that way? Will you look for retreat centers where you can go away for a full day or part of a day? Will you make your house quiet enough at the right time so that you can commune with God? These are all considerations that we have to make. Oh, may God help us. Spending time with God in solitude is going to our Maker who knows us from the beginning to the end! He knows us inside out. He knows our abilities and our purpose; He will ensure that if we are round pegs, we run after round shaped opportunities. May you find your fullest potential and walk in your highest purpose all through this new year and beyond in the mighty name of Jesus. Bible Reading Plan : Matt 13, Proverbs 11 Monday 12th Jan. 2015 Devotionals By Pastor Olalekan fasina of Ignitechurches THE MOST VALUABLE BLESSING IN THE WORLD (1) The most valuable blessing in the world is not getting a good job. Getting a good job is great and we should thank God for it, but it is not number one. Getting admitted to a great school is or university is not the number one blessing in the world. We saw a documentary about three boys who got scholarships worth over well over £200,000 each but when we made further investigation we found out that one of these boys has been expelled from the school for bad behaviour. Getting married to a rich man is not the best blessing in the world nor is getting married to a ‘Miss World’. The greatest blessing in the world is AN ENCOUNTER WITH GOD! The second best blessing is those things that come along with an encounter with God. We are at the beginning of the year and I pray that you will experience total life changing encounters with God in the mighty name of Jesus. If you encounter God, you will never ever remain the same. Abraham encountered God! He thought he was entertaining travelling guests, but it turned out that He was actually entertaining Angels. The Angel of God prophesied over him, solving the greatest problem that Abraham had. One encounter with God turned Abraham into the true father of nations that God promised he would be. Isaac was born! He was born to a woman who had passed her menopause and to a man who was old and weak. This month as you separate yourself from time to time may you experience life changing encounters with God in the mighty name of Jesus. Experience teaches us that encounters come frequently during or immediately after periods of solitude. Lord, give me and my friend who is now reading this, awesome life-changing encounters in the mighty name of Jesus. Bible Reading Plan: Matt 14, Proverbs 12
