Friday, August 9, Tonight, 7 pm - Come Hear the Poly-Systematic Pianist Pianist David Leafgreen of Ft. Madison, Iowa will play original compositions in a poly-systematic style of his own invention using his hands independently to play shifting, contrasting, rhythms (3 beats on one hand contrasting 4-5 on his other hand) that yield a textured yet cohesive work of art. Come out and enjoy a highly unusual musical experience by a one of a kind artist. This good for all ages! The event is free. Donations to the Anna Arts Center will be welcome and the concession stand will be open. All proceeds will go toward renovation of the buildings. August 19 & 21, 6-9 pm Auditions for Canteen. Story about the home front during WWII. • P.A.S.T. and the Shawnee Arts Council proudly present “Canteen,” which is a story of the World War II home front in America, specifically North Platte, Nebraska. • Based on the book Once Upon a Town written by noted author Bob Greene. • Directed by Dr. Lynn Steveson of the Anna area, who directed four shows about the Jan Karon Mitford book series. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Parts for: a. 7 women, age 40 to 60+, they serve in the canteen; b. 7 teen age young ladies, platform girls, some dancing; c. 2 Jr. High girls; d. 7 teen age young men to play soldiers and sailors on active duty; e. 4 men, age 30 to 60+, a narrator and 3 older soldiers; and f. 2 Jr. High boys. August 20 & 22, 6-9 pm Auditions for Midsummer’s Night Dream • Directed by Joey Johnson of Murphysboro, who was last seen on the Anna Arts Center stage as Curly in “Oklahoma” and Charlie Brown in “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown.” • Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. • Parts for 10 to 30 men and women ages 15 to 100. Parts for children 5 to 14 also available.
