Friday Evening:: Nov 21, 2014:: Thank you Carrie Sabinsky Lynette Vargas / Alondra Tijera and April R. for your generous donations today ! It was nice to see you both, such pretty girls ! sorry I did not have much time to visit with you. We were EXTREMELY busy with our food pantry to day at the Fed were we met, next time I will make more time , promise !! Several other folks stopped by to drop off donations, some I never got their names and some who I knew and give and give and give on a regular basis, with no expectation of gratitude, such as our Assemblywoman, Aileen Gunther. She popped in , handed me her donation and was on the run as always. BUT she makes time to think of the needs of the Federation for the Homeless, wonderful woman !! Tomorrow there will be a bake sale at the Trading Post in Liberty to benefit the Grahamsville Boy Scouts (I dont remember the Troop #, excuse me) . Please stop by and buy a cookie or a cake, or , if you are dieting like I am, a donation is always welcome I am sure. If you recall , I recently announced that our group will be going on hiatus starting Dec 1. I want to remind you of this:: WE WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE WINTER STARTING DEC 1 ................. The reason for this is severe weather and cold. It is very difficult and dangerous for me and our volunteers to pick up and deliver things under winter conditions. We will however facilitate DIRE EMERGENCIES !! This would include fire victims, people who are TOTALLY out of food, people who have NO heat and no way of getting it and are in danger of freezing, and thats about it !!! We will guide you to someone or some agency who can help you. We will advise you to the best of our ability. But for your general needs, we will be out of commission for the winter months, we did this last year and it worked out just fine. We are a strong and focused group with over 3000 members and will be back in the spring. Please respect this decision and dont ask us to make exceptions because we will not. So thats about it everyone !! We will not be accepting donations after this weekend, except for those previously arranged (Bonnie Leopoldo we are on for next weekend, got the truck { Gary Frear} and help lined up for Sunday, Nov 30) , And so my Friends and fellow Members, A FRIEND IN NEED on FACEBOOK is now THREE YEARS in the works. WE have come a long way TOGETHER!! We have helped so many people, given and received, laughed and cried, stumbled and risen above it all ! We are here, we are strong and our concept works !!! They (the haters and negative ninnies) said it was impossible, said it could not be done OUR way , but we are doing it , filling one need at a time. I am proud and humbled to be part of such a wonderful community ~ ! WE ARE INDEED THE CHAMPIONS MY FRIENDS ! Listen to the song below and enjoy !
