Hornet, CV-8 was 827 feet long and 114 feet wide at the flight deck. The beam was 83 feet and the draft was 25 feet under full load. Hornet disliked 19,800 tons or 25,500 tons under full load. Four geared turbine engines generated 120,000 shaft horsepower to turn the four propellers and move Hornet, CV-8 through the water at 33 knots.
