Friday Funday! Bottoms Up Turkish Get Up 20kg (44lbs) L & R The Get Up is a multi-planar exercise that takes you from a fetal position on the ground, to standing with a weight overhead It has been likened to Yoga with a Weight because it teaches you to have your body aligned, with the right mental attitude and complete with mindful action The weight stays fixed in a vertical plane as you manipulate and leverage your body around the weight You go through all the developmental stages we had to earn as a child: rolling, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, rotating, hinging, lunging, standing, locomotion Making them an almost all encompassing exercise I dont train the bottoms up version, rather, I use them as a barometer They tell me when my joints are in alignment, my muscles are firing accordingly and working in coordination rather than against me There is a high neuro-muscular demand which really requires your focus So youll know if your joints grind a bit or the bell falls that something was a little or a lot, off. It is your body to train so listen to it and use exercises that allow you to check in with your movement for the day before foam rolling for 20 minutes, doing needless correctives and just pounding away on the treadmill. Your body may just tell you to Speed Up (everything is clicking) or Slow Down (everything is sluggish), but you gotta be able to hear it! Note: I was happy with my effort here, but these are not as smooth and technically sound as I would like. However, I wanted to share this because these are fun, rewarding and always a work in progress, Enjoy :) Be Well - John BairKnuckleStrength Strength. Tenacity. Resilience.
