Friday (January 9, 2015) CLEANSED IN HIM Read: Luke 5:12-16 Reflect: What are the things we often ask in our prayers? Most of us come to God in prayer with a list of request and petitions. Our prayer intentions indeed are coming from our needs and situations we are into. God listens to us and refuses no one who prays from the heart. Reflecting on todays Gospel, we can learn from the plea of a man agonized by leprosy saying to Jesus, Lord, if you will, you can make me clean. (Lk 5:13). The Gospel is inviting to be mindful that we too needs cleansing. The cleansing here connotes not only physical but cleansing of our entire selves-- our thoughts, emotions, relations, functions and lifestyles . Perhaps, we are asking God of so many things in our prayers but we might losing track of ourselves that needs cleansing. Jesus not only grants the man his request, but he demonstrates the personal love, compassion, and tenderness of God in his physical touch. He met the mans misery with compassion and tender kindness. He communicated the love and mercy of God in a sign that spoke more eloquently than words. He touched the man and made him clean – not only physically but spiritually as well. What are the things you often ask God in your prayers? Do you also ask God to cleanse you physically and spiritually? Resolve: Lord Jesus, inflame my heart with your love and make me clean and whole in body, mind, and spirit. May I never doubt your love nor cease to tell others of your mercy and compassion. Amen. _________ want to be a missionary brother or priest? get in touch: The SVD-PHN Vocation Director Divine Word Seminary, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan svdphnvocation@gmail / (075) 568-4186 https://facebook/vocation.watch #wordActive
