Friday, July 11, 2014 “…brings forth out of his treasure things both old and new” –Matthew 12:35 Good Morning Heavenly Father, Family & Friends!! (*) Yesterday’s Discovered Treasure for Today: Jesus revealed this truth: “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever—The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans [comfortless, desolate, bereaved, forlorn, helpless]; I will come [back] to you” (John 14:16-18 Amplified Bible). (*) Today’s Application: This following story and illustration I stored away some twenty to thirty years ago and now have uncovered once gain goes like this: “Two Christian men were on a business trip to New York. One of the men visited Niagara Falls on a previous trip and wanted his friend to see the natural phenomenon. They drove to the falls and were awestruck by the power and size of the Niagara River. They stopped at the rapids just above the falls and observed the thick mist that hovered over the precipice of the falls . . . While taking in this mystical sight, the man who had been to Niagara before said, ‘Come let me show you the most unused power in the world.’ They went to the foot of Niagara Falls and as they gazed at the massive volume of water pouring over the cliff, he said, ‘There is the most unused power in the world’ . . . His friend responded, ‘Ah, not so! The most unused power in the world is the Holy Spirit of God.’” It is in this “most unused power” found in the world today, the Holy Spirit of God, that Christ-followers are able to live as over-coming “children of God” (I John 3:10)! Overcoming the temptations set before for us by a Tempter that is no friend of God’s. When we are found not understanding the purpose of Gods Spirit in our lives, then we are found not understanding the power of God available to us and thus becoming vulnerable to the trappings and temptations that will so easily beset us (Hebrews 12:1). The golden nuggets of truth found in this treasured knowledge and wisdom of God’s Holy Spirit abiding from within us is that we then possess the attributes of God’s mind, will, and emotions (Romans 8:27, I Corinthians 12:11, Ephesians 4:30). His Spirit reveals (II Peter 1:21), teaches (John 14:26), witnesses (Hebrews 10:15), intercedes (Romans 8:26), and speaks (Revelation 2:7) to us of His gracious and good, expedient and advantageous eternal riches and rewards. God’s Holy Spirit becomes our Comforter, Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener and Standby, walking by us in close fellowship directing us away from whomever and whatever would try to separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:38-39). Jesus taught us that “He will honor and glorify Me, because He will take of (receive, draw upon) what is Mine and will reveal (declare, disclose, transmit) it to you. Everything that the Father has is Mine. That is what I meant when I said that He [the Spirit] will take the things that are Mine and will reveal (declare, disclose, transmit) it to you” (John 16:5-15 Amplified Bible). 0:-)
