Friday, March 28, 2014 I had the privilege of spending a couple hours with Karen, Mingo and the kids yesterday. So glad that Karen is home! She is making progress slow and steady, but she has a lot of difficult work ahead of her. We all take for granted some of the smallest thing in life. I was witness to just how much work it is for her to eat and swallow. She is doing better everyday, but the small things we take for granted are struggles for her. She really is a fighter and wants to succeed for herself, Mingo, the kids and all of you who have supported her, cared for her, prayed for her and sent all the positive thoughts! She was so happy to see Brayden and Sierra. They missed there mom so much but are having some difficulties reacquainting themselves as the had not seen her in almost 5 weeks. As a parent, this is very hard to see and very hard for Karen. She still has to improve her fine motors skills through continued occupational therapy as well as physical therapy for overall strength and stamina and speech therapy to help ease her difficulties in her speech. She is up for all these challenges. We talked about how many people, friends, families, coworkers and strangers are behind her. I assured her on just how far she has come, because she just does not understand the success she has had so far! She needs to realize it is important to look at how far she has come; every step forward is truly a giant leap! I assured her and Mingo that there is an enormous support system for them for anything and everything they need. I also assured Karen she IS making huge strides in every little step she progresses! Lots of love for Karen, Mingo and the kids! -Grigg
