Friday Matinee - Diwali Damaka ! Diwali is the great cinema season for rest of India except Kerala. Millions to billion dollar stake in the business. Bollywood and Kollywood celebrate the Diwali with bumper fire crackers through multi – budget movie release. Aarambam in Tamil and Krish 3 in Hindi on roller coast with wide release and the electrifying hype. Kerala is feeling the color and smoke of these fire crackers well in advance. ‘Thala Ajith and Hrithik Roshan prove their respective fan following with former scoring high mark. Karthi not left far behind and strong enough to give good fight with All in all Azhagu raja. The failure of recent Mollywood drained off the theaters to an extent, Diwali release of other language tend to create a festive mood for gasping theaters at least for a week and 7th November all the big Mollywood trickling to come. Aarambaram on to terrific opening in Kerala through 142 screens! The movie gets above average WOM as a action packed thriller but diehard fans seem to be highly happy. Ajith shines through out the film and his fans flowed to Thiruvanathapuram theaters for fan show at 4.30 am. Many of the extra theaters most likely to be removed in the first day which is estimated around twenty plus. The film has eyed for more than 1.30 crore opening but may settle for 90 lakhs on the day one. Nadodi Manan dropped considerably but stays at screens solely due to lackluster performance of certain new films of last Friday. An estimated drop of 50 % reflected in all the centers with many centers ready to leave it for Diwali flicks. It has just reached 5 crore mark in 13 days with possibility of large removal on card in this week.. Hence it is most likely to end up less than 7.50 crore in its run which may bring huge loss to the maker. Iduki Gold near the 5 crore mark and continued in around 50 screens in its third week. An average grosser but not anywhere near to Da Thadiya . Better going considering its contemporary movies fell sharply. ‘’Pottas Bomb’’ is a pottas bomb at box office though got an average WOM. Not more than 45 lakhs in 6 six days. But the makers should be happy seeing that other three release of last Friday failed miserably even to stay at screens. Which small film got success in this year? My record shows apart from Ni Ko Nja Cha and ‘Dracula’ otherwise disappointment. Pattam Pole embarrassed Dulquar a lot. Theevram had substance and failure was unfortunate but this one accused of lack of novelty and difference of theme which people are seeking from him. Kerala Top 5 movies – 1/11/2013 1. Aaramabam – Grand opening. 2. Nadodi mannan – May be the first flop in recent years for Dileep 3. Iduki Gold – Not a gold settling for silver this week. Average grosser 4. Pottas Bomb – bombarded 5. Sringaravelan – Super hit
