Friday Matinee - Kanchi has come ! Lost counting the movies released in 2013 because of the pace of wayward kind of releasing. Movies after movies almost all the Fridays kept on pouring in silver screen without considering box office fate. Last week 3 releases this week another three and thus 120 films so far in 2013 released making just short of 7 films compared to total release of 127 of 2012. We have potential 12 Fridays more to make a history in largest releases in Mollywood. Most likely to touch 150 films or otherwise not less than 140 film! Last week can be taken as sample to analyze the attitude of film makers! Apart from Zakariyayude Garbhanikal no other movies had any sort of pre- publicity thus drawn flak from the audience in a sever manner. Careebbens and KQ secure their respective places in disaster list. Zakariya earn average to below average opinion. Luckily escapes threat of hold over several place by assuring thirty to forty percentage occupancy with a collection of 55 lakhs in six days is not bad compared to its contemporary releases. It seems race is not to fall in disaster of disaster. North 24 Katham becomes only movie of Onam season to improve the status due to growing WOM that too restricted to the major cities. Multiplexes have increased show and there consistency in collection in Major cities like Kozhikode, Ernakulam, Thrissur exceeding sixty percentage occupancy in third week. Crossed to better 3.30 crore with 3,000 shows and may stay one more week some screens due to lack of major threat. ‘’Daivathinte swantham cleatus’’ survives another week and stays in several screens due to lack of enough options for the theater owners. There is huge increase in show count which is nearing to 6,000 shows but it were not as fruitful as it should have been. Reaches 6.5 crores in 21 days. ‘’Sringaravelan ‘’ has lost the steam but takes advantage of lack of any competition. Still in seventy plus screens in third week is wonderful but collection has dipped considerably in many cities. Reaches 8 crore and its journey forward not encouraging as plenty of new arrival slated for Navarathri season including Dileep starrer Nadodi Mannan. Today’s release: Kanchi: Those who have seen Ozhimuri can’t forget script writer Jayamohan, here comes another from him under a little known director Krishnakumar. Indrajith, Murali Gopi, Nivin Pauly are in the big cast crew. Opened in around 50 screens. Kerala Top 5 movies – 4/10/2013 1. Sringaravelan – Velan of Onam 2.
