Friday, May 30th Full Results: Article by Rob Keller Kling and McGinnis win at Path Valley It is no secret that Path Valley Speedway has been struggling with car counts this year, and Friday night was no exception. Even so, the fans in attendance were treated to some very good racing in two of the four divisions. The Mini Stocks were the first division out and it was Dillon Wilsons night. Wilson started on the pole of the heat, won it, drew a zero inversion putting him on the pole for the feature, which he then led all twenty laps for his second win of the year. Mark Grove put some pressure on Wilson the first five laps, but then suffered engine problems, dropping off the pace. Grove eventually lost second to Barry Welch and finished third. Fourth went to Korey Washinger and Robert Cutshall was fifth. If you just look at the Late Model feature on paper it may not look like a great race. Brad Kling started first and led all twenty-five laps to score the win. Those that witnessed the race saw an exciting event that ended with the top three drivers running door-to-door the final five laps. While Kling was setting the early pace Tim Snare was running a close second with virtually the rest of the eight car field jockeying for positions right behind him. Wes Bonebrake was the first to get past Snare, taking over second near the halfway point. The battle for third got a little physical. When Andy Fries got alongside Snare they were banging doors for nearly half of a lap before Fries finally gained the position. Bonebrake had caught up to Kling as was looking for an opening. After Fries got by Snare he reeled in the leaders, catching them with five laps to go. Over those final five laps Bonebrake worked the top groove with Fries beside him down low and they were both just off the back bumper of Kling. On the final lap Fries dropped back a car length, giving Bonebrake the chance to take one final shot at the lead. Bonebrake entered turn three high and then turned down to the bottom, but Kling had enough speed to win the drag race to the finish by half of a car length. Snare held off Steve Bailor at the end as they finished fourth and fifth. Fries was the heat race winner. Chris Anderson outran Kyle Martin after Charlie Stallman suffered mechanical failure on lap two to win the 4-Cylinder Thunder Car feature. Stallman won the heat race. The Super Stock feature was the night cap and they put on a show for those that waited. Curt Dunn started first and set the early pace. Alex Boozel, Austin Johnson, Brad McGinnis, and Bill Powell were all in close pursuit. Boozel made a move for the lead that left him up and out of the groove and he dropped back to fifth before he could get back in line. That gave second to Johnson and he was able to work past Dunn for the lead on lap five. Dunn was still holding on to second near the halfway point when he lost the handle and spun around in turn three. That put McGinnis in second, Powell third, and Boozel fourth. After the restart McGinnis made a few attempts at a pass trying to go low, but he figured that was not going to work and moved to the high groove. That decision paid off as he drove around Johnson in turn one on lap fifteen to take the lead and then drove away, leading by almost a full straightaway when the checkered flag fell. Powell took second from Johnson in the final turn with Boozel finishing fourth and Troy Eckenrode fifth. McGinnis also won the heat race.
