Friday Night Frights!!! Greetings again Dark Ones! And welcome to another Friday Night Frights! Tonights flick is a tale of holiday horror called Black Christmas. Also released under the titles Silent Night, Evil Night, and Stranger in the House it a 1974 Canadian independent horror film which is credited as being one of the first of the slasher film genre. The story follows a group of sorority sisters who are stalked and murdered over Christmas vacation by a killer hiding in their sorority house. While this seems like a cliché now, at the time this was new horror movie territory. Like other movies of its kind, such as When a Stranger Calls Black Christmas is based upon the popular urban myth of The Babysitter and the Man Upstairs. But there was also an element of reality to this film. It was partly based upon a series of murders that did in fact take place in Quebec, Canada around Christmas time. A remake was done in 2006 but was not as well received. So dont bother with that..this is the good one!
