Friday, November 22nd, 2013 - 50 years since President Kennedys assassination in Dallas, Texas. It was also a Friday in 63 when it happened and we had the entire next week off from school. That next Thursday the 28th was Thanksgiving - like this next week. Elston Jr. High - I was leaving Algebra class - Mr. Scott was my teacher - and as Melinda Henry and I made our way to our next classes - it was about 1 pm - Sue Madden came rushing up to us and said with great alarm and disbelief You guys, did you hear? The Presidents been shot! We looked at her and then one another with a shock, and Melinda then looked at Sue and said Sue, thats not any where near funny! You shouldnt even kid about things like that !. I then headed into my Geography Class with Mr. Landing as my teacher - he was very glum and had both the radio and TV on as the reports were coming in. We all sat there very quietly and listened to the unbelievable news. I felt so weird and bad. That hour flew and then I went to my last class of the day - Biology Class with Mr. Callaway. He had the TV on and we all talked quietly. I then went home with my books in tow for the weekends homework I had to do. It was all like one long bad dream. Everything seemed to change on that day.
