Friday, November 29 34th Week of OT, R1 : Dan 7 :2-14 Gospel: 21 :29-33 Reflection by: Fr Sipri Tukan, SSCC To Love God’s Words “Heaven and earth will come to an end, but My Words will not come to an end” [Luke 21:33] The Bible (God’s Word) was written and has been used since hundreds or thousands of years ago, but it is still relevant nowadays. Perhaps the Bible is burnt or floated away by flood, but its contents are still alive in human beings and are being passed down to posterity. “Heaven and earth will come to an end, but my words will not come to an end” as Jesus said. God’s word is a source of great strength to those who want to gain such strength from Him. In today’s readings, we are asked to reflect as to whether we still breathe all kinds of advice or good lessons that we have received from parents, teachers, siblings or friends that may have impacted on our ways and acts of life. As a reflection of today’s word, we should then impart our living values and virtues to other people, not only with assets or money. We also want to prioritize children’s education instead of other interests and to emphasize on human investment instead of material investment. The so-called living virtues are those of hard work, the courage to take risks, discipline, faith, sincerity, initiative, mature and future thoughts, simplicity, enthusiasm, being constructive, grateful, responsible, tolerant, wise, smart, thorough, dynamic, efficient, persistent, prudent, honest, strong willed, creative, steady, naïve, independent, introspective, respecting other’s work, health, and time, forgiving, bountiful, dedicated, self controlled, productive, diligent, amicable, affectionate, confident, willing to sacrifice, modest, patient, loyal, fair, respectful, orderly behavior , polite, sporty, ethical, strong, assertive, keen, keep a promise, open and persevering. Let us introspect: do we continue to grow in the recognition of the above values and virtues? God, open my heart to always love, read, listen and contemplate on Your Words. Amen.
