Friday October 03, 2014 This morning was a cool, rainy, and gray morning. It was the first real hint of fall. I walked into the kitchenette area at work around 8:10 a.m to find several co-workers standing in front of the window gazing at what seemed a short distant of red flashing lights. They were so bright against the gray that seemed to surround them. Being curious I walked over and asked what it was they were looking at. Someone quickly spoke up and said they had a jumper off the Lee Bridge. I gasped and tears welled up in my eyes automatically. As if I knew this person. I quickly spoke out, I pray they find them alive and this person gets the help they need. Someone turned to me and said, highly unlikely if they hit the rocks. Immediately my mind turned to this person’s family and said then I pray for comfort for the family. Oh course this set the mood for the entire office for the remainder of the day. I sat wondering off and on throughout the day had this person been found dead or alive. How many other people if any were wondering the same and did anyone see me crying? I often prayed that day for this person and their family. Kept imagining this individual had been sitting in the corner of a room that was pitch black and the only visibility that could be seen was their finger tips. They had no one that they could reach out to and no one to turn to. It simply just broke my heart and I don’t know why. Well long story short (one of my mom’s famous sayings) once home that evening I started telling my husband about what I had witnessed and he told me Hey a jogger saved this person. He had watched the news and had wondered if I knew anything about this. My world just stopped for a moment when I realized that prayer had been answered and that I was sure that this stopped and made MANY people stop what they were doing and prayed for this individual. WOW what a moment when you really REALLY realize the power of prayer. Takes me back to this thought. A Smile can go such a long way. You never know who you may touch with your smile. All of us have been or are going through something difficult. It doesn’t cost you anything to simply smile. You may never know whose day you may have made a little brighter.
