Friday, October 31 PARTING SHOT... It’s that big day. For kids, after Christmas, the biggest day of the year: Halloween. Time for all things scary. And this year, no doubt, the scariest thing of all is the possibility that Republicans might take control of the U.S. Senate. Anybody who says that might be a good idea is crazy. Because Republicans would try to roll back Obamacare, and block any progress on immigration reform, minimum wage, climate change, or tax reform. Now, it’s possible Republicans succeed in capturing the Senate. They only need to pick up six seats. But I doubt it. Because seven of these races are still too close to call, and Democrats aren’t going to lose all of them. The real key, in every state, is voter turn-out. If Democrats turn out their base – if young people, women, African-Americans, and Latino – vote in 2014 in the same numbers they voted in 2012, there’s no way Republicans win the Senate. So, what are you waiting for? Get off your butt – and get out and vote! That’s my parting shot for today. I’m Bill Press.
